Industry veteran and well-known agency leader teams up with former business partner at upstart agency
Toronto, December 2, 2015 – Beverley Hammond, founder and CEO of REPUBLIC today announced that industry veteran Terry Johnson has been named Chairman of the upstart agency.
Johnson was the founder and CEO of Allard Johnson (now KBS+); co-founder and Chair of Veritas Communications; Chair and partner at Integrated Healthcare Communications (IHC); and partner in the design firm OnBrand. Johnson is a member of the Canadian Institute of Marketing. He was inducted into the Canadian Pharmaceutical Marketing Hall of Fame in 2006 and retired after 35 years of agency leadership in 2013.
This is not the first time the two have teamed up. After Hammond joined Johnson and MDC agency Veritas as a partner and CEO in 2001 the two completely overhauled the then pharmaceutical-focused firm, transforming it into one of the country’s leading marketing communications agencies. In their dozen years together there, the operating income of the organization increased by over 1000% and the client roster grew to include top Canadian brands like CBC, Labatt Breweries and McCain’s, and global brands Barclay’s, Church & Dwight, Expedia, Guinness, Hallmark, HMS Host, Nike, Staples, Subway and Target (US, India and Canada).
